Pinterest TV Studio live streaming app launched for select creators

The Pinterest TV Studio app has been quietly launched and is available to select creators on their platform. The new app is currently available for both Android and iOS. The Pinterest TV Studio app is designed to make live streaming easier for creators. It will allow creators to start a live stream with improved streaming setup, editing tools and multiple camera features. However, the company hasn’t officially announced anything about this app yet, perhaps because it’s currently only available to select developers.

According to a report from TechCrunch, when developers first launch the Pinterest TV Studio app, they must enter a code or scan a barcode provided by Pinterest to gain access to the live streaming tools provided by the app. The addition of this particular live streaming app to the Pinterest platform seems like an indication that it’s trying to expand its social media landscape.

In a statement to TechCrunch, a Pinterest spokesperson confirmed the app was launching, but shared little more than, “As more developers create innovative programs using Pinterest TV on the platform, we’re constantly experimenting with new ways to help creators to bring their ideas to life.” The app is listed for Android and iOS in the Google Play Store and App Store.

TikTok has grown rapidly in recent years and has already pushed other social media platforms to expand their capabilities while offering more video content creation capabilities. Nowadays, major social platforms including Instagram, YouTube and Snapchat just like TikTok have short video feature available for the users. And now Pinterest is moving towards the same foundation, quietly adding live streaming app Pinterest TV Studio to its platform.

The Pinterest TV Studio app has reportedly been available to select users on both Android and iOS since May 2nd. Despite no official announcement, the app is said to be available in multiple regions outside of the US, including Australia, Canada, Germany, and the UK, which could mean global expansion is on the horizon.

Additionally, last year Pinterest also announced a feature for brands to promote products and ideas to users as part of efforts to expand online shopping on its site. This feature allows brands to upload their product catalogs for advertising and the company automatically pulls articles into a slideshow advertisement that is tailored to users based on their interests.
