Peterborough: Woman told neighbor ‘I’ll kill your family’

A woman threatened to kill her neighbor and burn down his house after being asked to lower her voice on the phone.
Gabriella Batchelor, 23, was at her mother’s home in Peterborough when she began speaking out loud late at night on September 7, 2020.
It was so loud that her neighbor banged on the wall to calm her down.
But minutes later, Batchelor went to his front door with a kitchen knife and started banging and shouting abuse.
She threatened to burn down the house and set fire to the cars outside, screaming, ‘I’m going to kill you, I’m going to kill your family.’
Batchelor went back inside after her tirade of abuse, but police arrived shortly after.
She refused to let her into the house, but they forced entry, arrested her and found the knife hidden under a pillow.
Batchelor pleaded guilty to making death threats and carrying a knife in public at Peterborough Crown Court.
She escaped jail with a 12-month sentence suspended for 24 months, and was granted a 12-month community service order and a two-year restraining order.
PC Katie Brown said: “Batchelor’s threatening behavior was totally unacceptable.
“No one should feel afraid or vulnerable in their own home and this type of abuse will not be tolerated.”
