Live from New York – it’s his curtain call! Peter Davidson finally broke his silence about his feud KanyeWest At that season finale from Saturday night live while sharing a selection of his shower memories.

“Hi colin [Jost] and [Michael] Che and [the] millions of people [who] just watching to see if I approach Kanye,” Davidson, 28, said during the Saturday, May 21 episode of “Weekend Update.” “I never thought this would be my life. Look at me when I started here: I was just a skinny kid back then and no one knew what race I was. Now everyone knows I’m white because I’ve become incredibly successful even though I barely showed up for work.”

The New York native – who confirmed hours earlier via Writer David Sirius‘ Instagram that he was leaving the series – further open about his connection to the executive producer Lorne Michaels.

“He always gives me the best advice,” Davidson said of Michaels, 77, during the episode, which was hosted by Natasha Lyonne. “I will never forget [when] I called him [after] I am engaged. I was like, ‘Lorne, I just got engaged Ariana Grande after a two-week appointment.’ He says, “Oh, well, hold on, for the rest of my life.” It’s a true story. … I guess Saturday night live always stand behind me Thank you Lorne for never giving up on me or judging me even when everyone else has and for believing in me and allowing me to have a place to call home with memories to last a lifetime will last long.”

He added: “And then when I auditioned SNL, He said, “I don’t think you’re cut out for this show, so let’s screw this up together.” And that’s exactly what we did, so people who think I don’t deserve the job shouldn’t really hate me because we have so much in common. If anything, I should encourage hope that literally everyone could be there Saturday night live.

That freak brothers The voice actor even recalled one of the most controversial jokes from his show days and compared it to Will Smith and Chris Rock‘s Oscar drama.

“To be honest with what I initially said [about Dan Crenshaw], because it clearly still bothers me,” Davidson said, referring to his previous joke about the congressman’s use of an eyepatch. “I was just making a joke about someone’s looks without realizing that the medical condition behind it is a sensitive issue – and it is SNL Alumni tradition.”

As Davidson defended his November 2018 joke, a photo of the 53-year-old Fresh Prince of Bel Air Alum, who slapped the 57-year-old South Carolina native, filled the screen. For his part, Smith previously made headlines in March, most notably by slapping Rock over a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s shaved head which was a result of her battles with alopecia. That King Richard Star has since apologized and resigned from the Academy, which in turn banned him from their events for 10 years.

“On one hand, I don’t like that people think they can just run on stage and smack a comedian, but on the other hand, I know that all my shows are going to be sold out,” Davidson added, laughing.

During Get to know Sweet star spoke briefly about his five-month engagement to the REM Beauty founder, 28, and his social media drama with the “Heartless” rapper, 44, on Saturday, his feud with West made headlines earlier this year.

In February, observant fans noticed that Davidson added an odd link to his recently reactivated Instagram page, speculating that he was alluding to his feud with the rapper. (His page has since been deleted.) Davidson’s bio included a link to a short clip from the 1982s The king of comedy where Rupert Pupkin (played by Robert DeNiro) said, “Better to be king for a night than a fool for a lifetime.”

West previously shared several now-deleted antagonistic messages about home of Staten Island, New York, as his romance Kim Kardashian — the 44-year-old Yeezy designer’s estranged wife — continued to heat up.

“KEEP YOUR SPOUSE CLOSE, MAKE SURE THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LOVE AND APPRECIATE THEM BECAUSE INSIDE EVERY DIRTY GUY LUCKS A SKETE WAITING TO DESTROY YOUR FAMILY AND IN CALVIN KLEINS AROUND YOUR CHILDREN TO GO,” West wrote via Instagram on Feb. 13, who claimed Davidson would “never meet” his four children. (West and the Skims mogul, 41, share children North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3.)

The Illinois native later added, “WHEN YOU WATCH SKETE IN REAL LIFE, YELL AT YOUR LOSER [sic] AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS AND SAY KIMYE FOREVER 💔.”

While Davidson – who was first linked to the Keeping up with the Kardashians alum in October 2021 following her hosting debut on the variety series — had not publicly addressed the duo’s feud, a source said Us weekly that he has embarked on a “mature path”.

“Pete keeps his distance from Kanye,” the insider said Us in February. “He’s not scared of him — he just doesn’t want to get involved in the divorce drama.”

That Big time youth star previously made headlines during a September 2018 episode SNL after criticizing West’s “Make America Great Again” remarks during his musical stint a week earlier.

“You know how wrong you have to be about politics for me to take notice?” Davidson previously said during an appearance on Weekend Update at the time, slamming West’s pro-donald trump Remarks. “Do you know how annoying that is? Kanye is a genius, but also a musical genius. … Kanye, I know you’re thinking, “Yo, this is the real me, I’m taking the meds off,” but take it [them]. There is no shadow in the medicine game.”

Davidson, who wore a Make Kanye 2006 Again baseball cap during the segment, continued, “Being mentally ill is no excuse for acting like an idiot. I quote my therapist, my mother and my postman.”

West later dissed Davidson’s comments about a now-deleted Instagram post in February, writing: HI SKETE, DO YOU HAVE MORE MENTAL HEALTH JOBS FOR ME?”

Kardashian — who filed for divorce from West in February 2021 after nearly seven years of marriage and has since been legally single — and the stand-up comedian’s relationship have grown stronger despite pleas from the “Heartless” rapper for a reconciliation.

“Kim and Pete are secure enough in their own relationship and won’t let snide comments affect what they have,” a source said Us in February. “She’s leaning on him while Kanye is going through that jealousy phase. Kim and Pete try not to give in to the attention. She said what she had to say.”
