Person stabbed to death in Sydney street riot, police say

A refuse truck driver was allegedly stabbed with a pen in what police say was a traffic incident in south Sydney that closed two southbound lanes on Southern Cross Drive.

Police said they had received reports that a 49-year-old man had been stabbed in the arm by the driver of a silver Kia Carnivale car.

Officials are looking for the Kia driver and have started an investigation.

The alleged incident happened between General Holmes Drive and Botany Road on the Botany/Mascot border around 3.25pm ​​Monday.

The victim was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital.

Two out of three Southland lanes were closed but have since reopened.

Drivers were advised to allow more time and exercise caution.
