Senator Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) achieved the impossible on Thursday by rallying all Americans together. How did she manage to achieve this extraordinary feat? By celebrating one year of the Capitol riots with a song by the cast of the hit musical Hamilton.
While the public was busy gossiping about the meaning of January 6 — watching Republicans spread conspiracy theories to blame as Democrats made eerie comparisons to 9/11 and Pearl Harbor — the DC facility was busy shooting itself in the foot.
Pelosi presented her fellow lawmakers with a pre-recorded Zoom clip of the Hamilton cast singing “Dead Theodosia,” along with a prepared statement from the musical’s star actor Lin- Manuel Miranda.
It’s no surprise that social media reacted with shock at how seemingly out of touch Pelosi and her colleagues appeared.
Loads of criticism began to flood the platforms as users struggled to come to terms with the foreboding display.
Conservatives had a field day with the footage, seeing Pelosi’s social spoofing behavior as evidence of Democrats politicizing January 6.
“So now it’s really theater,” said Donald Trump Jr. write.
Others responded to the song with memes that appeared to lament the current political situation in the United States. Many references are also given to make celebrity performance of John Lennon’s “Imagine”, led by Hollywood actress Gal Gadot in 2020.
However, many point to joking predictions that appear to have foreseen such an event that the liberal obsession with Hamilton would go too far.
An old title from the satire shop Onion titled “DNC aims to reconnect with working-class Americans with new Lena Dunham web line “inspired by Hamilton”” has begun making rounds.
Even worse, an old tweet from last January suggested that a Democratic-led uprising would somehow unite Hamilton.
“A liberal uprising would look different,” the user wrote. “We will escort Hamilton’s original Broadway cast into the galleries. They will softly sing “History Has It’s Eyes On You” as the GOP members tell their lies. “
But contempt is not partisan. Progressives were also widely repelled against Pelosi’s bizarre antics.
One user questioned why Americans can’t simply get healthcare.
Some even joked that QAnon Shaman, the Trump supporter who helped lead the Capitol riots, was right about the government so far.
Either way, the one-year anniversary of January 6 has made it clear that the nation may be in serious trouble.
