Payten reveals Cowboy’s plan to thwart “Reece Lightning.”

North Queensland manager Todd Payten has outlined his “physical” plan to naught Brisbane electric full-back Reece Walsh in Friday night’s clash at Suncorp Stadium.
Walsh will make his NRL debut for the Broncos. The 20-year-old former New Zealand warrior showed in the friendly against the Gold Coast before breaking an eye socket how he likes to sweep left and take on a playmaker role in the third half to shed his outside supports.

He can also go to the right, but that’s his goal. As a left-footed option, his presence this side of the field will always pose a threat.
The Cowboys’ right-back with Jeremiah Nanai, Chad Townsend, Peta Hiku and Kyle Feldt needs to be on their toes.
“He’s electric with his speed across the line and we have to hold our lead together and defend it in a line,” Payten said of Walsh, affectionately known as “Reece Lightning.”

“If we have the opportunity we have to deal with him physically and limit his options at our end of the park.”
The Broncos beat the Cowboys 20-18 in a trial on the Sunshine Coast, a score irrelevant to Friday night’s result, but Payten got a sense of where his opponent’s strengths lie.
He also noted this week’s comments from Brisbane propsman Payne Haas, who said the Cowboys “pulled our pants down” in a 38-12 loss at Suncorp Stadium last year and the Broncos would not let it happen again .
