Patrick Stewart on the chances of bringing back another Professor X

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Surprisingly, one of his biggest surprises blew the trailers by confirming that Patrick Stewart was returning as ProfessorX – This is the first time he’s reprising his role since the conclusion of Fox’s X-Men franchise. Given that Charles Xavier was killed in 2017 loganIt was a shock to see Stewart as the leader of the mutants again.

But now that he’s part of the extended MCU family, could Sir Patrick (in his three-piece suit) dress up again? Stewart later confirmed this Star Trek: Picard completes his third season, he will no longer play Jean-Luc Picard. However, it seems the actor isn’t that keen on closing the door when it comes to Marvel.

When asked if there was potential for more of the professor on Variety’s horizon, he had this to say:

“Carl Xavier? Yes. It may be. You know, the whole X-Men comic series is so huge, so huge, there might be an opportunity where he comes back. We will see.”

In addition to revealing his involvement in the first place, the Doctor Strange 2 Trailers also confirmed that this wasn’t the same Professor X we previously met, as this variant of the character shares the same yellow hover chair as the classic ’90s cartoon version. So the potential for Stewart is absolutely there to play any iteration of Xavier that might exist on any world out there.

One thing that seems unlikely, however, is that Marvel will recast Stewart as the mainstream MCU’s Xavier, as we can imagine Kevin Feige and co. wanting to put their own stamp on the hero. But then again, you never know how weird things have happened in this franchise.

Enjoy for now as Stewart continues the legacy of a role he has played for over 20 years Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessnow in cinemas.
