McIlroy did not confirm that the subpoena is directly related to Reed’s refiled $750 million defamation lawsuit alleging the PGA Tour, Golf Channel, Gannett, the owner of Golfweek, and others had common ground acted in “conspiracy, slander, harmful untruth and tortious interference.”

“The mission of the PGA Tour and its ‘partner’ the NBC Golf Channel is to destroy a top LIV Golf Tour player, his family and all LIV golfers to further their agenda and alleged joint effort to destroy the new ones LIV Golf Tour,” Reed’s attorney Larry Klayman said in a press release in September.

“As alleged in the Complaint, these calculated malicious attacks created hatred, encouraged and abetted a hostile work environment, and caused significant financial and emotional harm and harm to Mr. Reed and his family.”
