Pat Cummins in mourning after the death of his mother Maria
Ahmedabad: The Australian team in Ahmedabad was saddened by the news that captain Pat Cummins’ mother Maria died at home in Sydney on Friday.
Australians will wear black armbands in recognition of Maria and are grateful to know that Cummins and the rest of his family spent quality time with Maria in their final days.

In his contact with the team camp over the past few days, Cummins relayed the fact that he had felt incredibly supported as he left the Tour to be by Maria’s side after the Delhi Test and consequently the Indore and Ahmedabad games missed. The move was praised by Cricket Australia chairman Mike Baird, who is in India with the team this week.
It has been a long journey of more than a year since Maria’s breast cancer returned.
