The Range Rover driver who was involved in a horrific accident at a London train station that killed a woman has been named as jewelry store manager Rida Al Mousawi.

He himself was seriously injured, and his family recounted how he has been in a coma since the crash.

Footage of the impact showed the SUV spinning out of control before hitting a parked Tesla with a man inside, then taking off over a pavement and landing on the tracks at Park Royal just before 4am Monday morning, causing disruption to Piccadilly -Line led.

Iraqi-born Al Mousawi, 24, ran the Hiba jewelry store on Edgware Road, which closed yesterday.

Mail Online named him as the driver after visiting the street and speaking to other shopkeepers, who said he was known in the area for his passion for cars.

They reported that he is in critical condition at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

The woman who died at the scene was a 33-year-old mother with a daughter, while the other 26-year-old passenger survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both women were reportedly at the Wish Lounge hookah restaurant at the Park Royal and Al Mousawi was taking them with him when the accident happened.

The 56-year-old man in the Tesla was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A family member told the newspaper that there were fears he might have to have his leg amputated, but that doctors were able to save his limb, although he has now regained consciousness.

“I saw Rida at St Mary’s hospital and he’s been in a coma since the accident,” he said.

A friend who is a shopkeeper on Edgware Road and works near the Range Rover driver told the newspaper: “We have heard he was involved in the accident and in a very bad way. We all hope he survives as he is such a nice young man.

“It’s just awful and we knew something was wrong when he didn’t show up to open the store.”

A friend said the late woman was taken with Al Mousawi to jump-start her broken car.

They said: “The person who was driving was not at the venue. The girls were at a private party in Chelsea that I was at and they said to me, ‘can you take us back, we have to fix the car’.

‘Then Rada came and met her here. The deceased woman and the driver know each other. They are all known to each other.

“Everyone in the Middle Eastern community here knows each other through family, friends and school.

“She wanted to jump start the car and she insisted she would do it that night.

“She was a mother with a 12-year-old daughter.”

Some who lived near the accident site described seeing cars speeding and speeding in the area in the months leading up to the fatal accident.

Residents of Baronet House, which overlooks the accident site, said people race cars on the roundabout in front of the block at night.

A woman, who asked not to be identified, added: “They do it all night, there are always racecars downstairs on weekends and sometimes during the week.

“Sometimes it starts early at 9 p.m., but mostly from midnight.”

Klevisa Hyka, 28, who also lives nearby, added: “These complaints have been going on for a long time, including at the council. The council didn’t really do much.’

Another resident added: “The racers are constantly near the shisha lounges. They walk around these properties all the time.

“This type of accident is to be expected because there is a whole culture around speed racing. Almost everyone here has complained.”
