Onlookers, police rush to rescue motorcyclist trapped under car

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Video from a South Carolina traffic camera shows a group of bystanders and police officers rushing to rescue a motorcyclist who is trapped under a vehicle and lifting the car to take the motorcyclist to safety.

The entire sequence of events that unfolded in the resort town of Myrtle Beach unfolds in less than a minute.

Myrtle Beach Police published on their Facebook page that the incident happened on Saturday afternoon. Viewers can see a vehicle drive close behind a driver and his passenger, then overturn them and pin the driver under the car. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and thrown into the intersection.

Onlookers, escorted by the police, rush to the car to pick it up.

“The rider and passenger of the motorcycle were treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries,” police said.

Police said the video was a reminder of what can happen when drivers follow too closely.
