Ogden Police are investigating the use of force after officers saw them hit a man on the ground

The Ogden Police Department is conducting an investigation after video was shared on social media of several officers beating a man who appeared to be pinned.

The video (above) shows four officers kneeling either on or around the man, with two of them delivering punches. It happened on the Washington Blvd side. near 18th street.

Keaton Fuller, who caught the incident on camera Saturday night, said the man initially backed away from an officer in a squad car before running. Officers got out of their vehicle, then Fuller said the man looked like he was getting ready to fight and other officers emerged.

“The next thing I knew, they were down,” he said.

FOX 13 News reached out to the department and received this statement in response:

“The Ogden Police Department is aware of a violent incident involving our officers which was filmed by an bystander. The department had begun an investigation into the use of force after the action prior to the release of the bystander video. We will report these results and any available body-worn camera footage as soon as possible.”

It was not known what crime the man was suspected of and whether he was seriously injured.
