Frankie Boyle has been acquitted by Ofcom over a joke he made about Boris Johnson on The Last Leg.

Last month the comedian said he hopes the PM will be “pulled screaming to hell”.

The joke came after Johnson ended his final questions from the PM by quoting the Terminator line: “Hasta la vista, baby.”

Boyle responded by saying, “You ended with a quote from The Terminator…I hope a vent opens in the floor and clawed hands drag you screaming to hell.”

He also accused Johnson of “killing 150,000 people in a pandemic.”

A total of 11 people subsequently complained to Ofcom and the TV regulator has now confirmed it will not take any action.

Johnson wasn’t Boyle’s only target, however. Of course, the two contenders for his place at 10 Downing Street also felt his anger.

“We’re going to have the next prime minister elected by a very small group of elderly people during a heatwave, and it’s going to be either Rishi Sunak, a guy whose biggest wish in life is to be pissed off by Thatcher Ghost, or Liz Truss, who would be the first prime minister to forget to breathe and just die,” he continued.

Adam Hills, host of The Last Leg, later had to remind the audience that the program “wished Boris Johnson no ill”.

Boyle was recently hit with “mangled nonsense” by critics who accused him of making a joke about “raping Holly Willoughby” at the Lattitude Festival.

He insisted he was actually joking about “whether it’s okay to joke about it or not, and I look at it from both sides, there are pros and cons,” he reportedly said at a book signing .

The final leg airs on Channel 4 on Fridays at 10pm.
