NSW Police respond to a suspected domestic violence incident

Paramedics rushed to the couple’s aid and treated both at the scene before they were both taken to Westmead Hospital in critical condition.
Photos taken by residents show suburban streets cordoned off by several police cars.
A CareFlight helicopter was also photographed on site.
Police also declared a critical incident, which will result in officers from North Shore Command investigating the incident and the police response. The critical incident is also being independently reviewed, police said.
Police are still investigating the relationship between the two, although they certainly knew each other. McCusker said there were no arrest warrants or known history of domestic violence.
The man lived in the home, but the woman didn’t, McCusker said, and forensic police were still reconstructing the crime scene, including the weapons.
“The crime scene [investigation] is still ongoing regarding any weapons or other items that may have been used at the crime scene [being] subject to that forensic investigation,” McCusker said.
Both remain in the hospital, the man under police protection.
