NSW Police launch critical investigation into the death of Peter Buckingham

NSW Police have launched an inquiry into a critical incident following the death of a 75-year-old man in Coffs Harbour.
On Tuesday, family and friends were unable to contact or locate Peter Buckingham, who was last seen at around 7.15pm the same day at a house on Coriedale Drive wearing black and gray flannel pajama bottoms and a long-sleeved dark blue top.
New South Wales Police launched an investigation into a critical incident following the death of Peter Buckingham.
Officers from the Coffs/Clarence Police District were notified of Buckingham’s disappearance at around 10.45am the following day. Later in the day, around 4pm, officers visited Buckingham’s home to investigate.
Two and a half hours later, a body believed to be Buckingham’s was found at Hampshire Close.
Following the discovery, NSW Police launched an investigation into a critical incident involving a team from the Mid North Coast Police District who will investigate all the circumstances surrounding Buckingham’s death.
The investigation will be subject to an independent review and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
