Norfolk: CCTV shows killer lures mother to his home before killing | UK News

CCTV footage captured the moment a killer walked to her apartment with an “incredible mother” before stabbing her to death.
Birute Klicneliene, 51, stabbed Dace Kalkerte, 50, 16 times on April 15 last year in her first floor flat in King’s Lynn, Norfolk.
Dace, who also sustained nine other wounds, died at 2:28 am the following day at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Norwich Crown Court today sentenced Klicneliene to life imprisonment with a minimum sentence of 18 years behind bars.
Surveillance footage showed the couple chatting just hours before the frenzied murder as they walked through a park to Dace’s home.
They had met earlier that day while drinking with their partners in an allotment area in the city.
Klicneliene and Dace left the allotment, leaving their partners behind, the court heard.
Police were called to Klicneliene’s home at around 12:30 p.m. and found Dace bleeding and not breathing.
A Home Office autopsy that later determined Dace suffered 16 stab and stab wounds and nine lacerations, including defensive injuries to her right hand.
She had died from a single stab wound in her abdomen.
Dace’s daughter had been at home at the time of the murder and found her mother covered in blood, the court was told last year.
Reading a statement from Dace’s partner in court, prosecutor Andrew Jackson said: “His hope is that she recovers and can live a full life in due course and he says his whole world has changed forever.
“The statement makes it clear that Dace was an incredible mother. You lost her in the most horrible and cruel way.”
When Klicneliene was later questioned by police, she denied murdering Dace and claimed that she fell asleep when they returned to her apartment.
She told officers she thought Dace was drunk when she woke up to find her lying on the floor.
She claimed a man stabbed Dace. Police found no evidence of this unidentified person or any sign of forced entry into Dace’s home.
When police arrived, Klicneliene’s clothes were soaked in blood, but her hands were clean.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Burgess said: “Klicneliene used a knife to murder Dace – a woman she had met just hours earlier and whom she had invited to her home – in a sustained and brutal assault.
“She has always denied murdering Dace and we may never know why she used such deliberate and targeted violence, but that has no place in our society.
“Mercifully incidents like this are rare in Norfolk and today my thoughts go out to Dace’s family as they continue to mourn their loss. They have shown incredible courage during this ordeal and I thank them for their support during this very difficult time.
“We will continue to support them as long as they need us.”
