An autopsy of a woman found dead in a house in Brisbane Bay, revealing a “large amount of blood” at the scene, has not revealed a definitive cause of death.
Emergency services were called to a Vanessa Place home in Victoria Point around 2am Wednesday, where they found the 56-year-old’s body on a bed.
She had facial injuries, but police couldn’t confirm earlier in the week if her death was suspicious.
Detectives questioned her “fairly traumatized” partner, who was “emotional and upset” at letting paramedics inside.
On Thursday evening, the police announced that the autopsy could not determine the final cause of death.
“Further testing is ongoing and is expected to take several weeks,” police said.
Police found no weapons in the house but said there was a “large amount of blood” in the house.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said Wednesday police are investigating the couple’s relationship but there are no current domestic violence orders involving the couple.
