Nicki Minaj’s Rolling Loud return riddled with technical issues

On Sunday, March 4th, Nicki Minaj returned to Rolling Loud as the sole special guest for the headlining set of her longtime friend and mentor Lil Wayne.
Last year, the “Super Freaky Girl” rapper made history as the first ever to headline the festival in New York. Fast forward to yesterday, a day after the release of her new single “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” the Queens native wanted to celebrate with a mixed melodic performance of her classic and newer cues. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.
When Minaj began to heat up after being introduced by Wayne, the person in charge of event audio struggled to deliver her outlined setlist in the order she stated. While trying to remain calm on stage, she eventually became frustrated. Lil Wayne attempted to overcome the technical hiccups by dancing to the song being played on stage (Minaj’s “Chun-Li” and Wayne’s “Truffle Butter” with Minaj).
However, after repeatedly advising the parties responsible for the audio which song to play to, she said, “Kill the DJ. Kill the sound engineer.”
A user on Twitter, who claimed to have inside knowledge, wrote: “I was there. I don’t really think it was the DJ. It sounded like someone on the sound crew was driving the music, at least for their set. He didn’t have any problems during Wayne’s set and look at how it sounds like they’re jumping through the songs on an iPad versus how DJs throw them in.”
