Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope is keen on a move Newcastle United after the Magpies cooled their interest in Manchester United’s Dean Henderson.

The England international is keen to remain in the top flight after the Clarets are relegated to the Championship.

Eddie Howe is keen to sign the competition for Martin Dubravka and the Magpies had been eyeing a deal for Dean Henderson.

However, Henderson has agreed personal terms with Nottingham Forest for a loan move to the club, which he knows will be the first choice.

Newcastle might not offer him such a guarantee but, according to the Daily Mail, Pope is ready to fight to become the North East’s number one.

Pope has been one of Burnley’s standout players in recent seasons and has continued to impress despite the Clarets’ relegation last season.

The 30-year-old has a year left on his contract at Turf Moor and Burnley will be reluctant to let him go for the right price.

Newcastle’s priority remains signing a striker and a centre-back but they are confident of striking a deal for Pope.
