Neymar also praised PSG for managing to tie Mbappe to a new contract and says the club should ensure he has players with Paris ties in the squad.

The former Barcelona man continued: “I admit I didn’t know until the last moment. I knew it a day before the announcement.

“I was very happy that Kylian decided to stay. I think the PSG project is what he needs for his career.

“It’s good for him to stay and try to win a Champions League in his country, in his city’s team. Having players like Kylian in the team is always very important.”

Neymar’s salary means there are very few clubs in the world that could actually afford him, although Chelsea have been suggested as having a long-standing interest in the Brazilian.
