News from Queen Elizabeth II – Monarch smiles as she makes a rare public appearance at the Windsor Horse Show

THE Queen beamed yesterday as she received a standing ovation at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
The 96-year-old monarch looked elated on her first public appearance after withdrawing from Monday’s opening of Parliament over mobility issues.
And she looked delighted when her horse, Balmoral Leia, was named the winner of the Highland Class 64 event and later crowned champion.
Despite health concerns, The Monarch appeared to be in good health and spent almost an hour at the parade ring near her home in Windsor Castle chatting at length with retired racehorse trainer Henrietta Knight.
Colin Brooks, chairman of the show’s committee, shared a joke with the Queen, and her head carer Terry Pendry was on hand to offer his advice.
