Ekitike, 19, almost joined Newcastle during the January transfer window and after scoring 10 goals in 24 Ligue 1 games this season has been a target for a number of clubs heading into the summer.
But the magpies are now finalizing a deal after agreeing an initial fee plus up to €5million in add-ons, according to The Guardian.
While Ekitike is yet to sign a contract with the Premier League side, the report claims he has hinted he is ready to agree terms.
Manchester United were also among the interested clubs who conducted an investigation into the striker in May, ESPN reported. United are said to have reached out to the player’s representatives to discuss his plans for next season.
Ekitike has also been a target for Arsenal, who are keen to improve their options up front.
FC Bayern Munich is also said to have considered the teenager as a possible long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
Lille defender Sven Botman, meanwhile, remains on Newcastle’s radar.
The Ligue 1 side refused to sell the 22-year-old during the January transfer window and Newcastle instead turned to Dan Burn, who played a key role in his much-improved form in the second half of the season.
Botman has now confirmed that Newcastle, along with AC Milan, are interested in signing him this summer.
“These clubs are interested, yes,” he told Algemeen Dagblad. “I can’t and don’t want to say much more than that.”
‘What I want? A nice step towards a nice competition. I’m also looking forward to a new step.
“I know what I want. That doesn’t necessarily refer to this club or this competition. You weigh all sorts of things and then the overall picture has to suit you. I must have a very good feeling about it.’
