Newcastle fans warned of fake Carabao Cup final ticket scam

Football fans are warned about the sale of fake Carabao Cup final tickets.
Tickets for the game between Newcastle United and Manchester United at Wembley Stadium officially went on sale on Saturday.
However, fakes have already been sold to Newcastle fans on social media, the BBC reports.
Northumbria Police confirmed many “have already been victims of fraud” – having paid in advance for tickets they never received.
Detective Inspector Phil Thoburn said: “Please do not pay strangers for tickets as this is most likely a scam.
“These people are despicable and prey on those looking forward to enjoying the big game and trying all the avenues to secure tickets.”
Police have also urged fans to buy tickets only from official sites.
“If you have any doubts, please go away and report it,” Thoburn said.
In their last final at Wembley in 1999, Newcastle were beaten by Manchester United in the FA Cup.
If they win the deciding game on February 26, it will be their first major trophy since the 1969 Inter Cities’ Fairs Cup.
Anyone who believes they have been sold counterfeit tickets can contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or report it online.
