New South Wales Police are investigating after a man died in a Shirley Road unit fall

A man has reportedly fallen to his death while trying to force his way into a unit in North Sydney where police arrested him just hours before for a “domestic incident”.
A police investigation into the events that led to the 41-year-old being arrested, released and ultimately dying in his driveway has now begun.

NSW Police were called to Shirley Road, Wollstonecraft, on Friday around 11pm following reports of a domestic incident.
Officers with the North Shore Area Command spoke with the man and woman who lived in the unit, both aged 41, before arresting the man.
The man was taken to Chatswood Police Station before being released while the investigation continued.
But just hours later, at 6am on Saturday, police were called back to the same unit after being told a man, police said, was “trying to gain entry”.
When officers arrived, they found the man injured in the driveway below the unit and rushed to give him first aid. Paramedics arrived and took the man, who was still alive, to Royal North Shore.
The man died in hospital just after 11 p.m. Saturday.
NSW Police have reported a critical incident and tasked officers from neighboring Ku-ring-gai Area Command with investigating what happened before the man’s death.
The inquiry will be independently reviewed and handed over to the NSW Coroner.
