New Hampshire National Guard Deploys Local Units to Assist U.S.-Mexico Border Patrol – Boston News, Weather, Sports

PEMBROKE, NH (WHDH) – Several New Hampshire National Guard units are now en route to the U.S.-Mexico border.

Gov. Chris Sununu (R) is sending the units on a year-long basis to facilitate some of the work being done in the region, according to the New Hampshire National Guard, with 44 soldiers assigned to command along a 250-mile stretch of the border. and another 120 soldiers to fight the flow of illegal drugs, weapons and funds.

“Our soldiers will be the eyes and ears of the mission down there,” said Lt. Col. Greg Heilshorn. “This way they can free up customs and border officials so they can focus more on dealing with the people who are crossing the border.”

New Hampshire also sent soldiers to the border when they deployed a unit back in 2020.
