New details have been released about a man accused of stealing a car, leading to a police chase

MIAMI – A 40-year-old fugitive went on a crime spree in Miami-Dade County on Sunday, authorities said.
Antoine Carr Acosta stabbed a man and stole a car from a woman in Homestead, police said. Police officers pursued him on the Florida Turnpike until he crashed on Florida International University’s main campus, police said.
According to Capt. Fernando Morales, a spokesman for the Homestead Police Department, said the stabbing happened over a drug deal near the intersection of North Krome Avenue and Northeast 12th Street.
According to Morales, Miami-Dade Fire Department employees took the victim, who was in critical condition, to the Jackson South Trauma Center. There were no passengers in the stolen car and no one was injured in the accident at the FIU.
Correctional officers held Acosta without bail at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Monday. Morales said the Miami Police Department wanted Acosta for a home robbery.

Acosta is charged with grand larceny, fleeing and fleeing police, resisting an officer, reckless driving, driving with a suspended driver’s license and criminal mischief. Prosecutors have not yet charged him with stabbing.
