previously on New Amsterdam season 5 episode 12, Max and Wilder face a dilemma over the approval of a revolutionary cancer drug when Max learns a secret about his own cancer. Reynolds goes one step further to rectify a dire medical situation. Desperate to help a woman in need, Iggy finds the system working against him.

On the Series finale part 2 from New Amsterdam Season 5 Episode 13 “How Can I Help?”it’s been 5 years since Max came to New Amsterdam and became Medical Director.
We get a flashback to 1988 that shows that a young max Visiting New Amsterdam while his sister is a patient. The doctors who help his sister put young Max on a path that will shape not only his future but also that of the hospital. We get to see too a young Elizabeth and how she was as a child. Elizabeth tells Max that she loves him.
Gabrielle has a family dinner with Floyd and Horace. Max takes the stage to give a speech and the seats are filled with everyone waiting to see what Max is preparing to say. Déjà-vu? This is exactly how Max started his career at New Amsterdam!
Iggy once asked Max, “Whatever happened when you asked people: how can I help?Max explained that people are too busy to offer their help to others. The very last episode of New Amsterdam will feature Iggy brought on a stretcher and needs surgery to save his life. Everyone, including Maxwill ask “How can I help?”
Will Iggy make it or will this be the heartbreaking moment we all believed it was coming. Executive producers Peter Horton and David Schulner have already confirmed that Max’s cancer will not return, nor will they kill Max. Thank god, because that’s what I’d like to think Max Goodwin is still out there helping peopleeven if I can’t watch it on Tuesday evenings.
