Nearly 2 million Yeti Soft Cooler, gear case recalled

Nearly 2 million popular Yeti soft coolers and gear cases are being recalled due to the potential for magnets within the product to become detached and a choking hazard.

The cases and coolers have magnet-lined fasteners that can fail, resulting in detached magnets.

“If two or more high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can be attracted to each other or another metal object and become lodged in the digestive system,” the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said website. “This can lead to perforation, twisting and/or blockage of the intestine, infection, blood poisoning and death.”

So far there have been no reports of injuries or magnet choking, but consumers are advised to stop using the product and contact Yeti for a refund or replacement product.
