At NCIS Season 20 Episode 14 “Old Wounds”, Palmer expresses to the team his and Hines’ frustration at not getting help from HR with hiring assistants. Parker offers to go with Palmer and speak to Principal Vance about the lack of help.

dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

The team receives a call to investigate the death of Ensign Clyde Sims. Clyde transported $3 million worth of black market opioids. Palmer realizes that the pills are marked with either a W or an M, and before he can ask Parker for his opinion, Parker drives off in his vehicle, knowing exactly what was on the pills.

The team arrives at the office the next morning without a word from Parker. Parker arrives angry and yells at his team. He yells at everyone that it was a W stamped on the pills that stand for Clayton Wills. Parker finds Detective Vance, who explains why HR doesn’t allow anyone to hire an assistant, and he begins yelled at both Hines and Palmer.

Clayton’s attorney won’t allow Parker to interview him and explains that Clayton is a reformed man. The team discovers that Palmer has a past with Clayton that brings out the worst in him. Parker’s old FBI partner Jeremy Brighton arrives at the evidence lab looking for Parker. Brighton explains that he is confined to a wheelchair because he worked with Parker on the Clayton case.

off the case

Parker and McGee visit Clayton in his office to question him about Clyde’s death. Clayton maintains his innocence and gives up the name of his old supplier, Benny. Unable to keep his composure, Parker lashes out at Clayton until Clayton’s attorney stops the interview.

As the team prepares to raid Benny’s business, Principal Vance informs Parker he is sitting on the bench after the incident with Clayton. Clayton’s attorney contacted the principal and complained of harassment.

Torres and Knight finish off Benny’s security guard when he tries to point his gun at them. When they invade Benny’s building, it turns into a brawl until only Benny is left. They ask Benny straight out if he supplies Clayton and Benny admits it Clayton is his competitionnot his partner.

Parker’s obsession

Torres and Knight bring Benny in for questioning and Benny informs them that Clayton is pushing the W pills and he is Supplier number one in the opioid game. While investigating Clayton’s business finances, Hines discovers that Clayton’s business is making money without selling its legitimate product.

Parker is overcome with guilt he’s the one who shot Jeremy in the spine that caused his paralysis the night they ambushed Clayton. Parker and Jeremy are watching the game on TV when Parker finds out the team doesn’t have solid evidence to take Clayton down. Parker lies to Jeremy and says he needs to make a beer, and grabs his gun on the way out.

Jeremy calls McGee to warn him that Parker has gone rogue and is hunting Clayton. McGee, Torres and Knight arrest Clayton’s men during a meeting with Benny, who are carrying a large quantity of drugs.

forgiveness

Parker goes to Clayton’s office alone and finds him preparing his pills for distribution. As Clayton runs away, Parker fires a warning shot. McGee, Torres and Knight arrive at that moment and arrest Clayton. They explain that his own men admitted that Clayton ordered Clyde’s murder.

Jeremy is waiting for Parker in the office. Parker still feels guilty and Jeremy demands that he listen to the letter Jeremy wrote him after Parker accidentally shot him. Jeremy has forgiven Parker a long time ago and needs Parker now to forgive himself.
