BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty is definitely not one to stand by and take a rude text and hit back at a follower who claims she’s “gained a few pounds”.
The moderator was responding to the day’s quintessential Twitter discourse, a debate about how best to make a crunchy sandwich.
“I always add ‘ready salted’ chips to my sandwiches (no other flavor works for me) but I never use a solo crisp sandwich,” she shared.
However, one user took it upon himself to write in a now-deleted message: “You look good naga but you’ve gained a few pounds lately. Don’t let it progress…’
In response, Naga simply quipped, “Thank god for people like Paul.”
Fans were quick to react in support of the star, writing, “Love you for calling out the haters,” while another added, “Do people really tweet stuff like this?!? I give up! You are beautiful Naga, ignore the haters!’
It’s not the first time Naga has expertly taken down a troll, after a follower previously branded her an “overpaid, biased witch” in a shocking message.
Rather than rise to the public’s poison, Naga simply replied, “Sending you great love, Rosie X.”
The star has been a BBC Breakfast staple alongside the likes of Charlie Stayt, but one of her co-stars, Dan Walker, is headed for new shores.
He will leave the BBC to present on Channel 5 News, which he recently announced.
Dan revealed the news on Monday, saying “it was a massive decision” for him to leave the BBC for his new role at Channel 5.
As part of the move, he will also present a number of new shows on the channel, including a brand new set of non-news programs for Channel 5.
Dan joins Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije who is co-host of 5 News produced by ITN.
Of the move, Dan said in a statement: “I can’t wait to get into the daily news show but I’m also excited to be making a great new TV for Channel 5.
“I love their ideas and their creativity and it’s rare to get an opportunity like this where paths and ambitions meet. The chance to do something else was too good to turn down.”
