Mystery after 28-year-old Russian bank executive falls to her death world news

The death of a 28-year-old bank manager in Russia who fell out of her apartment window is puzzling.
Kristina Baikova, Vice President of Loko Bank, is said to have fallen from her apartment on the 11th floor in Moscow in the early hours of last Friday. She died instantly.
It is the latest mysterious death involving some of Russia’s top business and government figures.
Ms. Baikova was with her 34-year-old boyfriend, believed to be Andrei, whom she invited over for drinks.
An investigation into her death has been launched.
Other suspicious deaths since the start of Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine include the death of Russian Defense Minister Marina Yankina, 58, in February this year. Like Ms. Baikova, she fell to her death from an apartment window.

As head of the Department of Defense’s Department of Financial Assistance, Ms. Yankina was a key figure in financing the war.
Her death was reported as a suspected suicide – although this is common practice in Russia before an investigation is conducted or when the facts are unclear.
In May, meanwhile, Russia’s Deputy Science Minister Pyotr Kucherenko, who is seen as a critic of the war, died suddenly after falling ill on a flight back to Moscow after a work trip in Cuba, reports Mail Online.
The family said the 46-year-old’s death was linked to a heart condition, but independent journalist Roman Super wrote after his death that his “old friend” had spoken privately about not being able to flee Russia.
In April, Igor Shkurko, deputy general manager of Russian energy company Yakutskenergo, was found dead in his prison cell.
The 49-year-old was a member of the pro-Putin party United Russia, but his membership was suspended due to allegations of bribery.
Two months earlier, Russian oil boss Viatcheslav Rovneiko, 59, was “found unconscious” at his home late one night.
According to a report in the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets, doctors could not save him.
On December 26, Pavel Antonov – a wealthy sausage magnate, local politician and critic of Putin – died in India after falling from a hotel window.
His friend Vladimir Bidenov had been found dead in the same hotel four days earlier.
These are just some of the recent mysterious deaths of Russian leaders.
