My neighbors are looking over my fence and chatting to each other, I feel awkward as hell

A mother who lives between two friends is furious after both of her neighbors started peering over her garden fence for full-blown conversations.

The woman took to Musmnet to vent her frustration, claiming that their regular inter-garden chats compromised her privacy.

She explained to users that the layout of her street dictates that her garden be in the middle of the two diagonally opposite backyards.

And since the two neighbors now live so close together, they’ve chosen to chat across the fences of their homes – rather than visit in person.

However, her decision has angered the mum as she gets caught in the middle of their conversation as the neighbors – who have to stand on objects to be tall enough to see over them – can see straight into their garden while chatting.

This means she has no privacy if she decides to enjoy her own outdoor space.

In the Post, she explained: “The houses on my street become gardens by the people behind them, with no path in between.

“The problem is the people behind and next to us. I think they are close friends. They keep talking in the corner of the fence between mine and theirs. This happens quite often, so not just once.

“The fences are relatively high, about the average adult height, but they stand on things to talk to each other over the corner of the fence, or they yell over to get each other’s attention.

“I was in my yard playing with my dog and I had two people talking at a higher height than me in the corner of our yard. As someone who also suffers from social anxiety it might just be me (maybe others wouldn’t feel so annoyed) but I felt like my privacy was being violated.”

The mother also claims her neighbors continue their conversation even though they see her trying to use her garden.

She now feels she has no control over when she uses her own garden because her “neighbors are always there.”

She added: “They don’t move when they see me either. Because they are so tall I feel awkward as hell, like they can see my whole yard and into my house.

“You’re always there! One side has 6 kids who are all home schooled so they often talk over the fence too. I wouldn’t mind if it was just the kids to be honest! I feel more awkward having a conversation with the adults.

“I just feel like there’s often someone in a corner of my yard.”

Users in the comments empathized with the mother’s conundrum and even began offering solutions to combat their chattering neighbors.

One person said: “Oh I would hate that! You could buy bamboo in pots to put in that corner – won’t stop them from gassing but at least they can’t see you/you see them.”

A second added: “Can you put up a mature tree? That would drive me crazy too.”

And a third remarked: “Massively rude, would really chop me off. You can get clumping bamboo that doesn’t spread too much. Otherwise a big bushy evergreen, maybe something prickly.”

Last month, a mother decided to build her own “privacy wall” in the middle of their shared garden to give her some more time to herself.

Andra revealed the stunning creation she made on her TikTok account, Home By Andra, where it has gone viral with over 125,000 views.

She said, “I’m building a privacy screen on the patio,” while showing off the patio, wall, and wooden crate furniture.

The mum, who rents out her home, was inundated with comments saying her wall was a great idea and asking how she made it. My neighbors are looking over my fence and chatting to each other, I feel awkward as hell
