My favorite 4K TV on sale right now is getting cheaper and cheaper

The TV market is a ruthless place: you will always find retailers constantly trying to lower their prices in order to outbid one another.

But this is great news for buyers – and that’s why I’m delighted to see the 50-inch Philips PUS7556 4K TV drop to £219 off RRP.

I first spotted this TV on Curry’s website, where it was reduced to £359 in the retailer’s current high street payday sale.

But I’ve seen it on Amazon for less now – and I wouldn’t be surprised if the prices drop even further.

This isn’t the flashiest UK TV deal right now – but it’s my favorite and here’s why.

A lot of people (myself included) just can’t stretch themselves to the four-figure sums that you have to pay for top-of-the-line televisions.

Yes, they have industry-leading features and stunning screen quality—but is it still worth breaking the bank for them?

If you’re tactical and know what to look for, you can pick up an excellent TV for under £500 – a case in point is the Philips PUS7556.

Look at those confusing letters and numbers in the name and you’ll find “HDR”. This stands for “High Dynamic Range”.

This is a type of picture technology that noticeably improves the quality of standard 4K – you get richer colours, darker darkness and better contrast values.

This is all powered by Philips’ P5 engine, an internal processor that uses AI to tweak and perfect everything you’re watching in real time.

At the original price of £549 this is a nice feature to behold – but at the reduced price of £359 it’s a tempting offer.

The 50-inch screen works well in many viewing spaces (remember that the viewing distance should be around 1.5x the screen size).

So if you’re looking for a new TV in the budget category, this one is worth a look – not that anything about it feels remotely budget.

There are lots of great tech deals in the Currys Payday Sale.

Plus, there are some insanely good freebies available with pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S22.

I also recently wrote about how shocked I am at Amazon’s new Fire tablet prices.
