A mother has revealed that her daughter has no bedtime and she can stay up until 5am if she wants.
TikTok user @treeeflower uploaded a video titled “unconventional (and controversial) ways I’m parenting my 10-year-old.”
She continued, “No bedtimes or wake-up times (sometimes that means going to sleep at 5am and waking up at 4pm).
“Never been to school. Decides what she wants to learn and when she wants to learn it.”
The mother added that she doesn’t restrict screen time for her daughter either and she is free to make her own choices.
Another of their “rules” is “no overnight stays,” and that includes family members.
She added that her daughter still sleeps in the same bedroom as her.
Finally, she said she’s raising her daughter to “speak her own mind” and that she’s “encouraged to be opinionated.”
The mum shared that she’s a “crunchy mum” and according to Kidspot.au, that means a mum who would prefer to use natural options when she can.
They wrote, “Crispy moms usually choose the natural option over the mass-produced or medicated option.”
Typically, this may include drug-free home births, placenta encapsulation, breastfeeding until an infant is self-weaning, co-sleeping, attachment parenting, and homeschooling.
The mother’s video has been viewed over 700,000 times and opinions divided.
One person wrote, “You are essentially creating a child who will depend on you for life because she lacks basic education.”
Another added: “How can she be headstrong when she’s not exposed to anything?”
However, one supported the parenting method, saying, “Raising a child authentically outside of societal norms is nothing to be ashamed of.”
Meanwhile, a sleep guru revealed that you can get kids to bed by 5:30pm and get them to sleep through the night, and it’s a lifesaver for weary parents.
And that’s exactly the time when children should go to bed, according to their age, reveals the teacher.
Previously, we shared how a crunchy mom banned her kids from sleeping over and didn’t want to teach them anything about Santa Claus.
