BURLINGTON, Vt (AP) — A pianist who wants to raise awareness of climate change will perform 251 times — in every single Vermont city.
David Feurshow, a music professor at the University of Vermont, recently gave up air travel to reduce his carbon footprint. And he’ll be driving an electric vehicle for his “Play Every Town Vermont” concerts.
“There’s a lot of resonance that people have with this idea from other musicians and from the audience. People really understand that we’re in a crisis,” he told Vermont Public Radio.
He said the concert programs will vary from classical to jazz and will include his own compositions. He said he recruits local student musicians from every city and town to join him.
It will take several years to complete the tour. He plans to complete his efforts in 2026.
