A Time To Kill investigates the 2012 murder of Riverton, Ohio teenager Anne Kasprzak, who was brutally beaten to death by her boyfriend Darwin Bagshaw.

Kasprzak’s parents reported their daughter missing on March 10, 2012 at their home in Riverton. Tragically, the 15-year-old’s remains were pulled from a river the next day in nearby Draper, UT.

An autopsy revealed that she had died from multiple blunt force injuries to the head. Her forehead was shattered and her skull was fractured. She had been hit extremely hard by an individual consumed by anger and violence.

Cops initially suspected two men in their 30s after a witness said Kasprzak attended a party at one of the men’s homes. the witness claims to have seen the two men attack the teenager and take her out of the house in a rolled up tarp. However, this later turned out to be the wrong approach.

Suspicion soon turned to Darwin Bagshaw for the murder of Anne Kasprzak

Police soon grew suspicious of their young friend, 14-year-old Darwin Bagshaw. Telephone records revealed that a number of phone calls had taken place between the young couple on the night of the murder.

Then the investigators found Kasprzak’s blood on Bagshaw’s shoes. He tried to claim that Kasprzak had had a nosebleed two weeks before the murder and that there was blood on his shoes; He even had his pal backing the claim. However, his friend later told police it was a lie.

Police learned that Kasprzak had told her friends that she was pregnant. It is believed that the night she died she had told Bagshaw that she had a child and he responded by hitting her with a shovel. The autopsy showed that she was not pregnant.

In 2016, Bagshaw, now 18, was awaiting trial for his girlfriend’s murder when he surprised many by deciding to plead guilty. Prosecutors hadn’t offered him a deal. His defense attorneys later claimed that their client chose to take responsibility for his actions.

Darwin Bagshaw was sentenced to 15 years of life imprisonment.
