MULTIVERSUS has just left open beta, and the Season 1 patch has revealed a number of changes that will alter the meta.
While many people have already nailed their MultiVersus leaderboards, the new changes introduced in Season 1 hope to boost player favourites.
Here are the biggest changes for MultiVersus Season 1.
MultiVersus free characters to change
The free character you can use for each game will now change on rotation.
Previously, players could play as either Superman, Garnet, Finn, or Reindog, despite not purchasing the characters with coins.
A new roster is rolling out starting today, and it appears that this will change again in two weeks time.
From August 15th to August 30th, the four characters that will be free to play are as follows: Arya Stark, Lebron James, Steven universeand Batman.
The currently playable characters also have an icon to make them easier to find.
Big changes for Battle Pass users
MultiVersus players can increase their rewards by purchasing a Battle Pass.
These rewards will be increased in the latest update.
You get ten Battle Pass XP Match Rewards Double the amount from the open beta to win.
If you lose, you still get increased rewards, five instead of three.
The frequency with which you must complete certain activities for seasonal missions has also been drastically reduced.
For example, you only need to complete 50 assists instead of 125 for this mission.
There are large buffs that are rolled out for a range of perks.
Clean the Air, Let It Rain Dog!, Painted Target, School Me, Slippery When Feint, Snowball Effect, and Static Electricity are becoming more consistent in their effects.
These include Snowball Effect and Painted Target, which increase bonus damage, and Static Electricity, which applies electricity to thrown objects.
A perk receives a significant nerf as many players thought it was too strong.
vengeance ready now only applies one HP of unstacked gray health instead of three.
Stacked gray health is also reduced from four to two.
Superheroes get buffed
A number of characters have been changed, hopefully underused characters will make their way back into the meta.
Arya Stark added consistency and damage to four of her basic attacks and one of her specials.
Lebron James Also, four of his basic attacks have been boosted with extra damage, and inconsistencies in other moves have been improved.
wonder woman has gained weight, she has a shorter cooldown on specials and she will draw out her shield faster.
Batman, Bugs, Finn, Iron Giant, Superman, and Jake all received specific nerfs, but none compare to the damage done Velma.
Her Air Side Special has reduced distance, her Air Up Special has been reduced to two, and her Ground Side Special now gives six HP for three seconds instead of 12 HP for four seconds.
Basic attacks have also been nerfed, including additional cooldown and breath cooldown, as well as a reduction in their ammo.
Her Knowledge is Power perk has also been nerfed. Previously there was seven HP for five seconds and now three HP for three seconds.
