Mother, three children killed in Riverina collision

“I’ve known the family for a long time now. You just don’t expect that,” he said. “I just want to give [the family] kind regards.”
Leeton Mayor Tony Reneker said the town of about 10,000 was reeling.
“It’s a shocking feeling, a feeling of despair and disbelief,” he said.
“Every fatal accident is a tragedy, but to have four dead in one vehicle is just unbelievable.
In a post on Facebook, local MP Helen Dalton said residents of Leetonshire were on her mind.
“I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the four people who tragically lost their lives in the horrific car accident in Yanco this morning,” she said.
“Words cannot express the devastation of losing lives so young.”
The incident comes ahead of NSW Police’s Operation Easter 2023 campaign, which runs from Thursday to Easter Monday.

There will be double demerits during the five-day operation, aimed at reducing the number of deaths during the holiday season.
Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander Acting Assistant Commissioner Tracy Chapman said “significant” additional police resources would be on the roads throughout the campaign.
“For the last two years we have seen seven road fatalities every long Easter weekend. The goal this year is to reduce that number,” she said.
