Mooy Man of the Match as Anges Celtic at the Scottish Cup

A soft handball verdict against former Celtic defender Efe Ambrose left Morton boss Dougie Imrie furious that VAR was killing football – but Mooy ignored the noise as the penalty was awarded to send the keeper the wrong way.

“I’ve waited a long time to take the penalty – but the longer it took, the bigger the chance I thought it was,” Mooy said.

He also finished the job in the 84th minute after Kyogo Furuhashi also scored a double for Celtic, taking his tally to 20 for the season.

And Mooy wasn’t the only Socceroo to score during the Cup weekend, as Aziz Behich proved one of Dundee United’s party slouches when he scored in their 3-0 win over the University of Stirling at Tannadice.

The students, backed by 1,000 traveling fans, kept the romance going for 44 minutes before full-back Behich broke the deadlock.
