An angry American Airlines customer went viral this week after a police officer tasered him when he began shouting aggressively at employees after they refused to let him board his flight from Dallas.
On Tuesday, a man who told police his name was “Quidley” was not allowed to board the plane that departed from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. A video of the man reacting to the news went viral on Twitter.
In the video, the angry man can be seen arguing with an American Airlines employee and yelling loudly about the cost of his flight.
“Two thousand dollars for a flight. Two thousand dollars to be on that plane right now. I’m not worried about a single person in here, I gave your airline two thousand damn dollars,” the angry man yells at the clerk behind the front desk.
The video then shows the abuser being attacked and verbally abused by the police.
It appears the man has been arrested, but it’s unclear if charges will be filed against him.
“I have two damn bags that American Airlines says you can have,” the man said, hinting at what may have been the reason he wasn’t allowed to fly.
American Airlines allows one carry-on bag and one personal item on domestic flights, but passengers can check their first extra bag for $30, according to the company’s website.
The angry man continued to yell at staff and viewers about the airfare.
“Hey, if I spent two thousand damn dollars on a round-trip… why the hell am I not on a return flight?” Quidley. put me on a flight F the airport, f* you.’
He then got into a physical altercation with three police officers, who ended up attacking him. As he gets up, a female police officer verbally abuses him while onlookers laugh and record the incident on their cellphones.
Video of the messy ordeal has spread rapidly across the internet over the past 24 hours, particularly via Twitter, where users shamed the man’s reaction.
‘Impressive. Who pays $2,000 for a flight? Or, better question, where the hell did he go? And why didn’t he check in his luggage? Did he really not know the rules, or did he just think he was exempt?’ wrote one user.
Another said: “I’m sure his cellmate tonight will be very interested to hear how much he paid for his plane ticket.”
Another comment that the police use of the taser was justified given the length of the man’s tirades.
