A mother has been praised for a clever trick that keeps her son’s bedroom carpet looking new – without the effort.

Rosanna Butler took to the Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas Facebook group to share her interior design tip and revealed they opted for artificial grass over traditional carpet.

“4 years after we carpeted all our bedrooms this is my son’s ‘rug’ which is actually artificial grass looking good as new,” she wrote alongside a picture of the room.

“Soft underfoot, easy to vacuum and mop.

“He wants it to be a football issue next.”

The post was quickly liked by thousands of people in the group, and Rosanna later returned to the post to answer a few more questions about the grass carpet.

“I think like rugs, the feel depends on how much you have to spend,” she wrote.

“We chose a thick pile so it doesn’t feel rough/itchy/hard, it’s actually very soft.

“We also installed underlay, so it wasn’t cheaper (or more expensive) than carpet, it just lasted so much longer.”

She also revealed that they went to a “big carpet store” that “also stocked artificial grass for gardens.”

“We all bought our rugs at the same time and when I asked if they would fit, they made funny faces,” she continued.

“We asked the fitter who said ‘no problem’ and then it was treated like any other carpet.”
