7Weather – Happy New Year! It was a muddy finish but the rain has gone here. Don’t throw the umbrella too far. You’ll need it before the end of the week!
The main difference you will notice today – the breeze and more sun! The wind changed overnight and today it will be 10-15 mph from the WNW, gusting 20-30 mph. Today we see a mix of sun and clouds. We should stay in the upper 40’s/near 50’s for Worcester County to a range in the 50’s elsewhere.
There will be less wind tonight. We will keep partly cloudy skies and temperatures will be much cooler, dropping into the upper 30’s.
Looking ahead to this week… Monday will still remain above average in the upper 40’s/near 50’s. It will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds and less wind. It won’t feel like January hockey weather for the Winter Classic, but an overall enjoyable day nonetheless!
You see with the chart above, we’re starting to change the prediction! I’m observing a low pressure system that has brought heavy rain and lots of snow to California. It will continue to move across the country, attracting moisture from the southeast, and will arrive in our area Tuesday afternoon. The warm front will push temperatures close to 60 on Wednesday and bring scattered showers. On Thursday, our temperatures will peak closer to midnight before plummeting throughout the day. This could bring a mixed rain/snow mix with rain remnants in the area on Friday. It might bring a few inches of fresh snow into the ski area. Stay tuned!
