Mikel Arteta reconsiders his plans for Arsenal are reportedly rebuilding in the summer and could only sign three players this summer.
The Gunners undertook a makeover of their squad last summer, spending nearly £160million to transform the team.
Although they nearly sealed a Champions League return via the top four, they narrowly lost to north London rivals Tottenham.
With no Champions League football for next season, Arteta could have to settle for just three new recruits to add to his already small squad.
However, the report says the north London club are increasingly confident they can strike a deal to sign Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus.
The 25-year-old will know Arteta well having played under the Spanish manager when he was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at the Etihad Stadium.
Jesus has just over a year left on his current City deal and the Gunners believe a £40m offer will seal the deal.
After scoring in Brazil’s 5-1 win over South Korea on Thursday, the player said: “I want to see what’s best for me and most importantly for my career.
“From Tuesday we will see what is best.”
For the midfield position, Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans tops Arsenal’s list of transfer targets, while Arteta is also seeking cover for Kieran Tierney.
