Midweek Fantasy Basketball Player: Week 7

blank

If you’re one of those basketball players who fantasizes about starting the lineup at the start of the week, checking in and then coming back seven days later to see how things go, then this post isn’t for you.

This is for those who are mulling over the day and keeping track of categories as the days go by. Maybe you need some support to get through and win the week, or maybe a major injury forces you to rethink a category you previously considered stable. The goal here is to target specific players who are distributed in less than half of the Yahoo! Tournament of people will help you put you in the circle of winners. Primarily we’re looking at players who could feature in 12-team tournaments, but there will also be some deeper selection when available.

As always happens when it comes to streaming, it’s possible that some of these recommended options are worthy of a more permanent addition. But in order to hold out for a long time, you must first make a pickup truck. No matter where you’re falling short, here are some names to consider to help you make up in the short term.

Score – Streaming Options

Chris Duarte – SG – Indiana Pacers (39% titles)

Duarte is starting to find his form again after facing decline and injury in November. The rookie from Oregon has had double-digit efforts in seven consecutive games for the Pacers. In addition to the news of TJ McConnell’s trauma, there are whispers that the Pacers may be heading for a rebuild with a potential move of Carris LeVert, Myles Turner, or Domantas Sabonis, which could give Duarte a pretty decent amount of work in the future.

Dennis Smith Jr – PG – Portland Trailblazer (20%)

With Trailblazers looking for both Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons, who will have to fill a few minutes at PG, and the former top 10 player is seizing his chance. Smith Jr has played 37 and 39 minutes in the last 2 games and has at least 5 assists in each of his most recent games, Smith Jr is a great stopper for all types of productions in his current role. We also saw the frontrunners fire up their GMs last week, and CJ McCollum has been rumored to be joining that front, which could also lead to a larger role for the DSJ.

Other live players:

Rebounds – Streaming option

Precious Achiuwa – PF / size – Toronto Raptors (24% rated)

Achiuwa returns as the top prospect on the recovery front this week. He still plays more than 30 minutes per game with the Raptors dealing with injuries OG Anunoby and Khem Birch, still averaging more than 8 rebounds per game during the season. If your team needs help with glazing, consider Achiuwa as an option.

Other live players:

Block – Streaming option

Derrick Jones Jr – SG / SF – Chicago Bulls (8% rated)

It’s been an important week for those with the last name “Smith Jr.”. Although not related by blood, this Smith Jr is also looking to capitalize on the absence of a star player. DeMar DeRozan follow health and safety protocols and as a result; Jones Jr played a lot of minutes (31 and 28 in 2 games, up from his season average of 18), in those 2 games he totaled 5 blocks and stuffed the stat sheet both night. DeRozan will miss at least a few more games, so DJJ could be a great short-term pick in many ways.

Other live players:

Thief – Streaming option

Herbert Jones – SF – New Orleans Pelicans (11%)

With Josh Hart The Pelicans spent his minutes on Jones; who is rapidly developing a name for himself as a defensive presence in the league. Jones was included in the Pelicans’ starting lineup and reacted by posting more than 1 steal in 7 consecutive games, and more than 1 steal and 1 block in 4 consecutive games. Defensive stats are often hard to come by, not many top defenders consider them great fantasy picks, but Jones checked all the boxes.

Other live players:

Three people – Streaming option

Cameron Johnson – SF / PF – Phoenix Suns (30% appreciated)

In the wake of Devin Booker‘NS Injury, Johnson has really stepped up his scoring production. Johnson has registered four games in a row with at least 10 points or more and has had seven games in a row with at least 2 or more making 3s. Johnson is scoring nearly 40% more than three this year (39.6%), and is playing on one of the best teams in the league. Johnson’s role is guaranteed, and as long as Booker is absent, the Suns will need their intensive players to produce in his absence.

Other live players:

Percent School Target – Streaming option

Guillermo Hernangomez – OLD – New Orleans Pelicans (19%)

Hernangomez brother formerly known as Willy has been extremely productive in the nine games he has played in this year, with his season’s %FG of a very impressive 69.6% overall. In 5 games of full workload he has played since returning from injury; Hernangomez did not take less than six pictures or take less than 50% in a contest. The Pelicans have recently shown signs of life, and Hernangomez is quite a contributing factor. If you have the space/need it is likely that Hernangomez becomes a consistent fantasy property.

You might want to get used to seeing Hernangomez in this one because given the rate at which he’s playing compared to the percentage of him being added to the roster, he would be the best under-50% ranked pick. in a period of time. The Spaniard is shooting 62.7% of the ball so far this year and has doubles matches coming up. I’m not sure how often you need to doubles, but Hernangomez is a monster on the attack board and it’s the simplest formula for a high %FG.

Other live players:

Percentage of free throws – Streaming option

Derrick Jones Jr – SG / SF – Chicago Bulls (8% rated)

Throughout his career, Jones Jr has always been known as one of the best pitchers/jumpers in the NBA, and traditionally his offensive game has focused on getting around. I speak every week in this section; we’re really looking for the bottom of the barrel because almost no one below 50% is rated as often as the free-throw line. So; we should focus on other stats with FT% being the cherry at the top. DJJ came out in both games without DeRozan, and for all his other potential opportunities, that’s good enough for me.
