West Ham’s Michail Antonio has yet to comment on the potential departure of Chelsea and Manchester United target Declan Rice.

Rice, 23, has just two years left on his contract and has turned down the Hammers’ offer for an eight-year extension, which would take his wages to £200,000 a week.

Chelsea and Manchester United have both been linked with a move for Rice this summer as the Premier League giants need a quality midfielder.

This week his team-mate Antonio was asked if he had tried to get Rice to stay at West Ham, but the Jamaica international declined to comment on the matter.

Speak with Sky Sports, he said, “Dec hasn’t even reached his best yet. He is unbelievable. What I see every day in training, he has so much more to do, has to learn so much more.

“But what he’s doing right now is already up there with one of the best in the Premier League.

“Whatever Dec wants to do, I’ll be happy for him. I love him as a player. I love him as a person. So at the end of the day his decision is his.’

Since joining West Ham’s first-team, Rice has played a huge part in the east London club’s rise to fame, which culminated in a Europa League semi-finals this season.

As a result, interest in the midfielder has grown but West Ham have so far been able to hold onto their star.

However, the failure of their attempts to renew his contract will affect the Hammers, who are reluctant to have Rice pushed towards the final year of his contract as it would diminish his value.

Rice has reportedly been priced at £100m but earlier this season West Ham manager David Moyes suggested he could be worth as much as £150m.

It is believed that Rice wants to play football in the Champions League and will find it difficult to turn down a move to a side that will help him achieve that ambition.
