Miami-Dade mother speaks out after 17-year-old was killed in drive-by shooting

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida. – The mother of a 17-year-old boy who was gunned down from a car in a shooting earlier this week spoke to Local 10 News on Friday as police are still searching for the shooter.
“I don’t know who did it, I don’t know why it was done. Everything I know is pointless and stupid,” said Arianna McNear. “It crushed a lot of people and I loved Cairi.”
Police said Cairi was shot Wednesday morning near an apartment building in the Northwest 71st Street and 15th Avenue area.
“I raised 11 children. Cairi was the seventh child,” McNear said.
The shooting happened around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, police said. According to authorities, a gunman rolled by on a motorcycle and shot the teenager several times.
When officers got there, they found Cairi dead on the ground.
“I won’t know what it was until God is willing to reveal it to me and why,” McNear said. “This morning I kept calling his older brother Charles Cairi. I’ve called him Cairi about four or five times. I had to keep catching myself to realize that Cairi wasn’t in the room. So I will miss Cairi very much.”
