Miami cruise passenger dies after falling from balcony

PORTMIAMI, Fla. – Authorities are investigating a death on a cruise ship that had left PortMiami.

Virgin Voyages said a passenger on the Valiant Lady fell from a balcony onto a lower deck on Sunday and landed on top of another passenger.

The passenger died from the fall.

The person on the lower deck was not seriously injured.

Virgin Voyages released this statement: “This passenger exited via his balcony onto a lower deck and despite receiving prompt medical care, died. We are deeply saddened by this loss of life and our hearts and thoughts go out to the family of this person.”

The ship sailed for Roatán, Honduras, but returned early to PortMiami on Monday, a day after the fatal crash.
