Met police say there are no investigations into the BBC photos scandal at this time | British News

The broadcaster said last night it had contacted police over allegations that an unnamed male presenter paid a teenager more than £35,000 for the pictures.
While the victim at the center of the allegations is now 20 years old, the situation is said to have started at the age of 17.

Investigators are currently evaluating the information discussed in a virtual meeting with the company, but an investigation has not yet been launched “at this time”.
A Met statement read: “Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command met with representatives of the BBC on Monday morning, July 10.”
“The meeting took place virtually. They evaluate the information discussed at the meeting and further investigations are carried out to determine whether there is any evidence that a crime has been committed.
“There are currently no investigations.”
BBC Chief Executive Tim Davie will address the media for a briefing tomorrow after the release of the company’s annual report.
In a note to staff on Sunday, he said: “The BBC became aware of a complaint in May; The BBC investigative team has investigated and actively followed the matter since it was raised.
“New allegations of a different nature were presented to us on Thursday and, in addition to our own investigations, we have also been in contact with external authorities in accordance with our protocols.”
“I can also confirm that we have suspended an employee.”
He added: “By law, individuals are entitled to an adequate level of privacy, which further complicates the situation.”
“I also want to make it very clear that I strongly condemn the unfounded rumors being circulated around the internet about some of our presenting talents.”
“We are in contact with the family referred to in the media reports.
“I want to assure you that we are working expeditiously to establish the facts and ensure that these matters are dealt with fairly and with due care, including by external authorities where appropriate.”
