Meghan mocks royal protocol and claims she took the curtsy for a joke

Meghan scoffed at royal protocol as she recalled meeting the Queen – and bending over in a crawling curtsey.
Harry watched without a smile as his wife giggled at the memory of being introduced to his late grandmother.
The Duchess said she had little warning of the meeting shortly after their relationship was announced in 2016.
“We went to the Royal Lodge for lunch and he was like, ‘Oh, my grandmother is here. She will be there after church.”
“I remember we were driving in the car and he was like, ‘You know how to curtsey, don’t you?’ And I just thought it was a joke.’
She said she drew on her memories of Medieval Times, a Texas-based chain of theme parks that offer shows and dining experiences and claim to bring the Middle Ages to life.
In her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan said Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, taught her how to curtsey to the Queen just before they first met.
“Apparently I did a very deep curtsy. I don’t remember. And then we sat there and talked,” she told the talk show host. But she has regained the memory and revealed her move to Netflix.
“Nice to meet you, Majesty,” she squeaked in memory. ‘Was that okay?’ she asked turning to Harry.
Meghan was less cheerful as she recalled trying to hug William and Kate when they first met.
‘They came over for dinner. I remember wearing ripped jeans and being barefoot,” she said.
“I was a hugger. I’ve always been a hugger. I didn’t realize that this is really irritating for a lot of Brits.
“I think I understood very quickly that the formality is enforced from the outside in and that surprised me.”
