Netflix deal ‘uncertain’ in Sussex as streaming app subscriptions plummet
Almost three years after the announcement that Harry and Meghan would be collaborating with Netflix in a stunning $100 million streaming deal, a royal expert has hinted the deal could fall apart.
Daniela Elser, a royals expert writing for news.com.au, has hinted that Sussex’s Netflix deal could falter.
She wrote: “If current Hollywood history is made, April 19, 2022 will go down in history as the day everything changed.
“It should have been a routine earnings call, with Netflix co-CEO Reed Hastings presenting the company’s latest numbers to tech and business reporters.
“Instead, Hastings revealed the company had lost hundreds of thousands of subscribers, marking the first drop in numbers in 10 years.
“The revelations immediately triggered something of an earthquake from Wall Street to Los Angeles, with $75 billion of value wiped from the company’s value within 24 hours.
“In the wake of that one call, not only has the streaming giant’s once unassailable hold on the entertainment industry been shaken, but the supposedly cashed-in future of Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, looks much more uncertain.”
